It’s a bit of a little known secret but the Galleries Lafayette in Paris has a fashion show every Friday afternoon. They showcase different looks and styles from high-fashion brands. The bonus is that anything you see and love in the show you can go shopping for it afterward in the Galleries. The Galleries Lafayette features brands such as Versace, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Chanel, Cartier, Max Mara, Stella McCartney, Tom Ford, and many more!

In the middle of the Galleries Lafayette is a large beautiful dome made of stained glass. It’s absolutely stunning and well worth it to see. They even have a “glass walk” on the third floor for that perfect Instagram-worthy picture. It’s a 9-meter long walkway that 16 meters high off the floor that surrounds you with a close-up and enveloping view of the dome.

Walking in was overwhelming, I was like a kid in a candy store. I know we had to rush so we wouldn’t miss the show – but I really just wanted to wander through every store. Getting to the show felt like going into a Speakeasy. We had to ask a sales associate (or two) for directions. At the end of it, we were on a hidden floor between floors 4 and 5. They checked us in and we were ready to enjoy. We sat in the second row and loved every minute. The models were incredibly professional and the runway was unique in that you would have two chances to see each look. And even if you did miss something, it was live-streamed on a large screen above you.

Apparently, by watching beautiful skinny people in gorgeous clothes – you can get hungry. On the way out of the Galleries Lafayette, I stopped at Pierre Hermé for macarons. Because if there was a snack that went with high fashion it would be macarons. First bite and I was in heaven, I love all macarons, but these were in another class.

We wanted to go to a fashion museum after the show, so we went to the Musée des Arts Dècoratifs – they were having a Harpers Bazaar exhibition. I loved the chronological view of the evolution of women’s fashion. It was documented in printed magazines as well as physical exhibits with dresses and textiles on display. I love how women’s fashion emulated and expressed women’s thoughts and feelings before they were saying it out loud and on the platform.
